HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Happy Halloween to all and to all a good night...zzzzzzz! 4 parties + 2 parades + 1 night of trick or treating + 3 buckets overflowing with candy - 1 daddy = 3 happy kids, 1 tired mommy, and 1 sad daddy (except for when the kids go to bed and he gets to dive into their buckets full of candy).

Grant- Cincinnati reds baseball player (bet you couldn't have guessed that one ).

Jack as Jim Tressel ( action shot "Drop and give me twenty").

Dylan as a leaf pile (only burned my fingers five times using the 15 hot glue sticks but so worth it)!

Lena as a female giraffe (giraffette?) and Sammy ('s profile) as a monkey complete with banana in pocket. And our friend, Seth, a cowboy.
BOO!

Happy Birthday

Matt celebrated his 40th birthday today.

He spent the first half of the day staying home with a little 4 year old with strep throat, then ran back to school to rescue the boys from being locked in the basement from the tornado warnings, then movies and legos, dinner, presents and cake. Not too exciting, but that's what happens when you're an old man :-). I was so happy to finally give Matt the present I've been working on secretively! If you know me, you know I cannot keep a secret so it was just killing me. I collected stories from friends and family and put 40 of them together into a sort of booklet for him. The stories were touching and funny. He's a great guy and I'm the lucky girl who gets to spend the next 40 years with him:-) Happy birthday Matt!

Dylan got a job!

Dylan got his first job! He's a greeter for a bank. A local bank set up a bank at our elementary school and it is run by the fifth grade. It is open one day a week so that kids can make a deposit (withdrawals have to be made by the parent and child at the main branch) or open an account if they so choose. Dylan had to fill out an application and interview with a bank rep. His first day is tomorrow, he has to be at school at 7:30 am, wish him luck!

What a deal!

What is one to do with a growing 11 year old who comes downstairs every morning saying "these pants are too short, mom" or "mom, look at these sleeves, oh well, I'll just push them up" ? Make a trip to Once Upon a Child and get 3 pairs of nice jeans (one brand new) and seven shirts (mostly Gap) for $50! The end.

Playing catch up

Here are some pictures to catch you up on a few of the million things that have been going on around here.

Lily turned two.

The big boys' school raised $18,000 at their ''Jog for Jefferson".

Grant got spiky hair and Lena got pig tails!

Dylan 's baseball team came in 2nd place in his league.

Dylan finished a huge project for school where he had to design and build his own land.

We went to the 'stonybrook stampede' a church sponsored country affair for dinner and square dancing and jack discovered the great fun in square dancing!!! The three ladies in the last picture are sisters who are in their eighties and and they sang a song about 400 hogs!
Sorry I haven't been blogging more regularly lately. The days just seem to zoom by! I'll try to do better.
