Is it a coincidence?

My day started out OK, then quickly slid downhill. Our plans changed 100 times today, which is so frustrating to me and obviously to my middle child as well because he has been throwing tantrums off and on for 2 hours. I have lost my temper with him and and have been brought close to tears out of pure frustration. We are now home for a short time and he has screamed himself to sleep. I collapsed in the red chair with a handful of mail to read feeling horribly cranky and totally defeated. I saw an envelope from a former student's mother, a graduation announcement! A boy I had as a first grader is graduating from high school in June. His mother sent me the nicest note, a note I really needed today of all days.
She thanked me for helping Ross get a great start in school and believing in him. What a special compliment. Is it just a coincidence that that note arrived in the mail today? I choose to think it is a gentle reminder from Someone who knows my every need.

It's Here!

It seems I've waited for it for so long. It seemed like the day would never come, but alas, the day has come.......it's here!

The Garden is in: corn, beans, lettuce, spinach, cucumbers, zucchini, pumpkins, watermelon, cantaloupe, peppers, peas,

and.......THE TOMATO! Three different, wonderful, juicy, mouth watering kinds!
If you could see me right now (after you get past my hair and my odor and my inability to move) I'd have a big smile on my face!

More cupcakes....

My cousin's shower was Saturday and I got to make the cupcakes, what do you think?

The shower was so much fun. We played a lot of games, funny games. My cousin had to get dressed using items from a suitcase, BLINDFOLDED.

She was all pimped out! And here's a better picture of the bride to be.

Just look at all the fun we are having.

The last two pictures are of my cousins and I, and my grandma and my aunts.

It was one of the best showers I've been to, I laughed so hard my cheeks hurt:-)

Packed lunch must have

Not sure where I saw this, but I love it. Ziplock makes this container that's divided and voilĂ !

Say goodbye to using 40000000 baggies. Two side notes: 1. That is a store bought bun but it is lathered with natural peanut butter. 2. Do not put any crunchy items in the same compartment with your sandwich, because the crunchies will just not be crunchy anymore. Now go get some, I know you want too......go on!

Do you notice a pattern here?

Here are a few projects with a common theme:

Do you remember this table from my Grandma?

After a lot of peeling of veneer, sanding, sweating, throbbing fingers, ingesting of old paint particles, and swearing, here it is painted with retro avocado:

And a new pillow

And a new pin

I have discovered LIME GREEN or RETRO AVOCADO.

What's that noise?

While I was making dinner last night, there was silence in the living room, which is very unusual but wonderful. Where were the boys?

Playing a new Lego game in a tent of course. Great while it lasted (all of about 10 minutes). Then the --it hit the fan. Dylan wasn't playing by the rules, Grant's diving board wasn't working out, and Jack was just frustrated with the whole rule situation. How did I solve this problem, you ask? Grant was set at the table with play dough, Dylan was sent upstairs with an attitude problem, and Jack was sentenced to play with his new game by himself (how dare I!). This only again lasted for about 10 minutes before the 2 youngest heard Dylan jamming out to 'I've been working on the railroad' upstairs on the keyboard. They just had to join in, Grant dancing on the stage and Jack drumming. It sounded like the ceiling was going to cave in. What's that noise? It's brothers playing, that's all (only for about 10 minutes because ..... dinner's ready!)

Bread baking

It's been about a month since I decided to bake our own bread, and I haven't fallen off the wagon once! It is very good, the recipe is from the simple dollar and it is very easy to make. The kids weren't eating very much of it though because it was just sliced too thick, well, thick slices no more. Matt got me an electric knife and I tried it out last night and I love it. I read somewhere that using one makes it very easy to slice bread and they were right. I zipped right through the fresh loaf of bread in no time and the slices are near perfect. i enjoyed a nice thin piece of toast this morning, with peanut butter, yum!

Baseball Pro

Grant had his first baseball game tonight, and it was quite a show. He is on the Reds (which is his favorite color) and he was more excited than I can even begin to explain. Just look at his face:

He went right out there and was ready to go

-

He ran the bases, he hit the ball,

Then the coach put him on the pitchers mound because "he looks like he knows what he's doing". Dylan gave him a few pointers and then he proceeded to grab every single ball that was hit, tag (knock down) 2 kids out on their way to first base, and throw the rest to first and when the first baseman didn't catch those balls, Grant told him " you're supposed to catch that!"

He earned the nickname Little Derrik Jeeter and someone mentioned Edward Scissorhands because he wore Dylan's batting gloves the whole time :o). The other parents just couldn't believe him, that boy of mine! I was crying because it was just so cute and funny and he was just so darn happy to FINALLY be playing baseball. The coach had snack ( baseball juice and granola bars) and Grant was in heaven! "Did we win mom?". Yes, Grant you won!
