In the time it takes to bake a batch of cookies...

I was putting the last batch of cookies in the oven this afternoon and told Jack and Grant to go upstairs and get all the animals and barns out to play vet and I'd be up in 8 minutes.  The distraction of a football got the 2 involved in a game of catch which started out very kindly.... Grant, put you hands like this and yea Granty-boy, you did it, that's it, great job.  And ended up with Jack laying on top of Grant and speaking through gritted teeth... that's not right, quit it Grant, GRANT STOP, I told you how to do it.  Then BAM football to the head!  Now just in case you're feeling sorry for Grant, don't.  He had his hands on his hips, shaking his hiney and sassing Jack with nanny- nanny- boo- boo and all those sassy words he says with his tongue sticking straight out!  By the time the buzzer went off and I marched upstairs, all was forgotten and they were in their room with the lights off playing with some light up toys.  We did eventually play vet, complete with real water showers for all the animals and that went very well until....... Grant 'accidentally, on purpose' knocked down all of the tiny medicine bottles and baby animals that Jack had spent 30 minutes setting up...oh well. That's how we roll here at the Winger house :)  Hope you laugh as hard as I did while I was posting this :)

I did it by myself!

I'm up way too late, but what do you think about the new stuff on the blog?  I did it all by myself, OK, one phone call to my sis.  I love it, I feel blog savvy :)

I have a confession

I just ate 4 marshmallows (the big ones) toasted on a fork over the burner of the electric stove!  So yummy, so bad!  I can't stop, somebody help me!!!!!!!!

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday to my dad today!  He got a new phone and was busy 'tinkering' (one of my dad's favorite words) around with that when I called him at work this morning.  I'm not sure he got the phone for his birthday, I think it was just a coincidence that his old phone just about burst into flames right before his birthday.  Anyhoo, have fun doing whatever you choose today, dad!  By the way, I was just wondering if you could remember what your favorite birthday present was when you were a kid?   I can't wait to find out......we love you!

Recovering with castles

Jack is recovering from his surgery and is doing very well. He is not allowed to run, lift anything heavier than a backpack, participate in sports or play rough for 2 weeks so we are filling our days with things like this castle which he, Grant and myself built last Friday.  I'm not sure the doctor knew about how 'lively' our house is when he made those orders....but we're trying to adhere to doctor's orders.

An early morning chat between brothers

Saturday morning 6:55am, I heard this conversation going on between Jack and Grant in the bathroom as Jack was 'taking care of some business':
Grant: Hey Jacky, want to wrestle?
Jack: I'm not allowed.
Grant: Come on, let's wrestle.
Jack:  Do I want to play castle? Yea, I'll play castle with ya.
Grant: NO,  do you want to wrestle?
Jack:  Do I want to play the wii? Sure.
Grant:  NOOOOO, do you want to wrestle?
Jack: Oh, I can't, I'm not allowed to wrestle because of my hernia.
Grant: Because of your hernia?
Jack:  Yea the doctor said no wrestling.
Grant:  M-om, Jack can't wrestle.
Mom:  You're right, he can't wrestle.
Grant:  Jack, mom said you're right you can't wrestle.  Do you want to play castle then?
Jack:  Sure, I'll play castle, just let me finish up here, OK?
Grant: OK, sure.
Then Grant wandered out of the bathroom sucking his thumb and dragging his blanket finally letting poor Jack finish up ;o)

Karate update

Remember the picture of Grant in his new Karate suit? And remember how happy he looked? Well, just turn that smile upside down and add kicking, punching, and a whole lot of screaming and that is how he looked when we actually took him to class. If someone didn't know better, you'd think he was having a siezure. We're going to try again on Monday night when one of our friends is teaching the class.....pray that happy face returns.

Jack and Grant's new pad

Moving Dylan to his new room meant moving Grant over to Jack's room. This was a little hard for me because we had to put away the crib mattress and toddler bed and lots of baby stuff was passed on. I can't seem to get rid of the glider that I rocked all the boys in :o( This growing up stuff is hard to take for a mom (and dad). Grant is in a new bed and Jack got a new roommate. Both Jack and Dylan have commented on missing each other at night. Dylan said he was lonely and Jack just wants Dylan to come and sleep in their room 'a couple nights a week'. We felt like Dylan and Grant were getting some new things so I asked Jack if he wanted new sheets or a poster or something cool for his room, "no, mom, I don't need anything, I'm fine". God love him. I did decide to give the red desk to him and am on the lookout for a soccer pillow and a poster. Hopefully everybody is content for awhile anyway.

Dylan's new room

Here is Dylan's new room. He decided on an airplane theme. The first 2 pictures are an old propeller that Matt and I have had for about 10 years and have always wanted to hang somewhere, and here was our chance. The black airplanes and clouds are chalkboard stick-ons. We still need to hang some planes from the ceiling but for now it's done. The room turned out great and he is as happy as can be. He now gets to stay up later than his brothers to read in his room.

Leftovers

Here is what I found on the counter when Jack was finished with his snack...I should have just given him a couple tablespoons of icing :o) I wonder if the Oreo people envisioned this being the outcome of their cookie. I think the practice of splitting and licking oreos is inborn. When Grant had his first oreo in the highchair, we looked over and he had split the oreo open and was going after the icing full force. Now he had never seen the boys do this, so how did he know? Inborn, I tell ya!

LOOK OUT WORLD

Matt checked out a new Karate place tonight in Pickerington and came home with 3 new uniforms! Yes, Grant is going to start Tiny Tigers in the very near future. Heaven help us all :o) He was so excited as you can tell from the picture. He grinned for the rest of the night.

I LOVE SNOW

I may be alone here, but I love snow! Let me re-phrase that, I love watching it snow through the windows of my warm house while drinking hot coffee :o) I get excited when it snows, it makes me want to sing the snow song from White Christmas. It is so pretty, it makes everything look so clean. I love the way it crunches under your feet and I love watching my boys watch the snow and play in the snow. I like playing in the snow and sledding with the boys, but I can only stay out for so long as I do not own a pair of snow pants or a hat or for that matter a good snow coat. My wool coat does not have a tight bottom and when Jack and I went sledding last week, the snow went right up my coat and onto my back! I need some good snow clothes as every mother does. So, I'm adding 'snow clothes for mom' to my list of wants. I wonder if this will be the "Snowstorm of 2010"? Have a great snowy day!

Happy New Year

Three cheers for anyone who survived the holidays! Rah, Rah, Rah! We had a great holiday with lots of family, lots of presents, and lots of parties! I think we partied with everyone in our family on both sides with the exception of my Dad's family who we are getting together with on Friday :o)  We also missed my cousin Mike and his family in Colorado who brought a new family member into the world on the 29th, a big welcome to sweet baby Noelle. I hope you all enjoyed the holidays as much as we did and are having as much fun cleaning everything up as we are!  I've got lots of pictures just waiting to find their way to the blog hopefully soon! I'm in the midst of de-cluttering and re-organizing most everything in the house so it may be awhile....
