Home at last

We made it home yesterday around 2:00 which left just enough time to unpack, do a load of laundry, air out the house, clean out the car, get Grant to the doctor, no scratch that, give Matt instructions on how to take Grant to the doctor ( he woke up the last day of vacation with a really high fever and sore throat and belly ache), and make it to church for Bible school...whew!
Today, we met my parents for lunch and picked up Lily, who enjoyed a spa vacation while we were gone: Fresh bacon grease on her food everyday and a variety of table scraps, sleeping on furniture, brushed and walked daily-she was living the high life :-) Dylan mowed and i weeded our garden and went through some mail, so i think we are pretty much settled back in, the only thing left is the grocery:-(
Right now Dylan is playing ball with a friend at the playground, Jack is building a zip line in the back yard, and Grant is resting and I am sitting on the back porch...do you ever feel like you need a vacation after your vacation?

Vacation continued

The boys had a blast climbing and running down the dunes.

Cherry orchards and a barn taken out the car window (while moving..)

Grant's pick for the day...Pirates putt-putt and adventure park.

The big boys did a ropes course and a zip line.

And Grant and Jack took a few rounds on some slow go-carts (which upon leaving Grant announced that his car sucked, which it did, the girl had to push him around the track).

We went to a Children's museum Friday where Jack played with a very cool water table.

We saw movie, the boys went swimming and lo and behold the sun came out (or went down).

And it is here again today, hurray.

Grey skies, Day 4

Woke up to grey skies for the fourth morning in a row...I walked on the beach this morning, the boys are hanging out watching Scooby Doo, and Matt's got the map out, charting our course for the day. The sun is supposed to show its face tomorrow=beach day for sure!

Pics from the trip to Michigan

Vacation

We left for Traverse City Michigan on Saturday and arrived on Sunday after NUMEROUS Roadside America stops:-) We are having a good time despite the cloudy weather and the chilly waters of Lake Michigan. The downtown is great, a very quaint place with fun shops and really good restaurants. The first thing the boys did was help a lady change the marquee above an old movie theater, from there we found a couple of toy stores, a magic store, and Dylan's Candy Store. Matt even occupied the boys while I shopped a little for myself (I bought an awesome handmade globe). We traveled to Lake superior, Lake Huron, climbed a sand dune at Sleeping Bear National Park, visited the locks at Suioux Ste. Marie, climbed to the top of a lighthouse and out to the tip of a bay through rocky bug infested terrain, we have driven past many beautiful cherry orchards, and have even found a house or five that I would love to own right along the coast. We are eating at very strange times and finishing every night off with a swim (at least the boys have, I usually tidy up, do laundry or wash dishes-a lot of un-vacationy stuff).
