Butterfly Parade

Jack's class just finished up a big unit on Monarch butterflies.  They raised caterpillars and watched them make cocoons and then emerge as butterflies.  Today was their parade which is quite a tradition at Jefferson Elementary.  First was the parade and singing, so cute!

Jack's in the camo, and yes I did miss the memo on wearing black...

Next came a quiz all about butterflies, the kids are all watching Mrs. Smith.

Then they released their butterfly to fly on to Mexico (I'm sure Matt will pass him on the flight home from Mexico today :o) )

And finally, butterfly crackers!

Bolits

I was checking my white board this morning for things I needed to get or do... and I noticed a little addition to my list:  Bolits???? I couldn't figure out what in the world....and then it hit me.....bullets!  Dylan told me yesterday he was out of bullets for his air soft gun :o )  He follows his own spelling rules which usually worries me, but today it made me smile.  Wish him luck on his spelling test tomorrow :o)

Packing

I am packing for Disney and apparently so is Grant!  He and Jack were upstairs for quite a while...and Grant came down the stairs ready to go!  I'm not sure if the airline allows that many carry-ons :o )

Visitors

Yesterday my mom, sister and niece and nephew came for a visit and a lunch outing.  It was Lena's first time over and the noise and confusion of the Winger house didn't bother her one bit.  You go girl !  It was so strange to have a little girl here with her pink dress and brown flowered leggings, but so wonderful !

I hope they had fun.  Here are a few pictures courtesy of the new house photographer, Jack.

Sam is quite the ham, this was one of about 20 pics Jack took of him and he was smiling in all of them !

Bathtime

When Dylan was little, he spent many hours in lovely bubble baths with many toys.  I'd read books to him while he bathed and we sang songs, it was so fun.  Jack spent less hours basking in luke warm baths and had several toys with him, the books were gone, and we occasionally sang songs.  Now Grant, he has to be hurried through 'bath' time with a quick shower because the hot water is almost gone and if he's lucky he gets a cup to play with.  But alas, not tonight, tonight I hurried his brothers through showers and ran him a wonderful bubble bath  and we loaded up with toys and he played and poured and we chatted and he made me some yummy 'bath soup'.  Just taking some time out tonight to enjoy my last baby boy.

Old timer

Dylan brought home an old typewriter from our neighbors house last night.  He was totally enthralled.  It took me awhile to remember how the thing worked, but after we got the paper loaded all we could hear throughout the house was the 'blam-blam' of the keys.  Am I that old?  After all, I used these archaic machines to type reports in college.  Remember the mistakes and the white out and the trying to line it up to correct?  We couldn't wait to use computers, now my kids want to use an old typewriter... Dylan asked if he could type something up on it and take it into school, how funny!  I bet his friends (and his 22 year old teacher for that matter) have never seen or used one before.  So if you call me in next few days, please excuse the 'blam-blam' of the typewriter, my kids are enjoying a lesson in history ;o)

Off to the Show

The boys are off to the Spirit of America  show downtown at Nationwide Arena!

What a perfect picture!

Jog for Jefferson

The boys' school had a jogging fundraiser today, they have already surpassed their goal of $15,000!  Grant and I walked back to the school with breakfast in tow at 8:30 am and set up camp.
Jack's class was first:

At first he strolled by, hands in pockets.  Then he really got the hang of it and ran his little tushy off!  His teacher said she couldn't believe how fast he was!
Then came the big 4th grader, Dylan:

Dylan started out strong and soon he and his buddy had to take a break :o) Grant joined in for 1/2 lap but his favorite part was the 'Gahanna Lion.'

Happy Birthday "Wills"

Happy 1 year Birthday Lilly (also known as Wills, Willerbean, Lillian, Lilly-girl)!  We love you!

Who's that boy?

Dylan had an awesome night at his baseball game tonight despite his teams' loss.  He hit two singles and made it to third base both times (one time with quite an interesting trip, I mean slide), he got an out at 2nd base and dove and caught a ball in the outfield!  At a boy!

Thank You

A big shout out of THANKS to Matt's Aunt Martha (or as Grant calls her Aunt Marsa).  She brought me the greatest fiesta ware dishes this past Sunday and I love them.  I couldn't wait to put something in them for dinner so tonight I plated up some mashed potatoes. I tried to put the meatloaf on the orange platter but it didn't "plate up" very well.  My selections for dinner entres are now centered around what would look the best on my new platters and serving bowls :o)  Thank you again.

September 14, 2009

Yesterday, a couple of 'my girls' came over for a playdate, they brought their kiddos along as well.  I don't know whether the kids or the moms look forward to these times more.  A little coffee, a little chit-chat (albeit interrupted chit-chat), a little arguing over a tent(the kids, not the moms), and a lot of laughing :o)  Thanks
girls!

I was sitting on the couch drinking coffee this morning (a rarity) and looked across the room at this lamp.

And then I looked a little closer...

I guess one of the boys decided I needed a little help decorating :o)

My Side of the story

Ok, so Matt has had a blog for YEARS and recently I have been posting some stuff there... But his blog really only shows one side of the story... Our lives with our three lovely boys are not always clearly depicted on Matt's blog. So I only thought it would be fair to share things from my point of view...
