Just sitting on the couch in my jammies, drinking coffee, watching cartoons with Grant...don't worry, I'm off for the summer! Time for a slooowwwww morning:-)
Jack put a made in China sticker on his forehead and was proclaiming in the car that he was 'made in China'. Grant got very irritated, "No you weren't made in China, Jack! God made you!"
Today was the last day of preschool for my 3-day class and can I just say, there were tears... from me. We told the kids we had one last assignment for them at the end of the day....a hug for the teachers because it was the last day of school. They lined up and hugged away, a few got a little teary and I did too :-( And can I just say that I am not a pretty cryer or a cryer who can talk and cry at the same time. No, not me, I am the frog-in-your-throat cryer, the runny-nose-cryer, the dreaded ugly cryer. So when sweet little-polka-dot-wearing Chloe was ready for her hug, I choked out something about her love of polka dots and how I'll always think of her every time I see polka dots, but she probably didn't understand one single word. And when I told Charlotte how proud I was of all her hard work and how much she will love kindergarten, all that probably came out was wah, wah, wah. I had such a great year and I loved being back in the classroom and the kids grew so much that I just couldn't help myself. So, my first last day is over, but tomorrow is my second last day and you know what that means...waahhh!
Dylan took a tour of his middle school today. Last week he watched a 'growth and development' movie at school. When did he grow up? Tell me please. Didn't he just start preschool, and learn to ride a bike, and tuck his shirts in his pants so his holsters were easily accessible, and carry two cowboys with him everywhere, and only eat orange foods, and say "hold you, mommy" when he wanted picked up? Seriously, HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?
We had an Easter egg hunt at church on Palm Sunday. Grant and Dylan hunted (last year for Dylan, everyone up to fifth grade can participate) but Jack was camping with the cub scouts.
I couldn't find Dylan and his friend for awhile then I spotted them and I just laughed. Dylan was holding the bag while his friend threw in eggs. They would go back to a discreet spot and open up the eggs....candy=keep, stickers and stamps-put back out for the other (less fortunate) kids. There was a 15 egg limit so they wanted to make the best with their allotted eggs :-)
Easter morning the boys went through their buckets...
Then we headed to my mom and dad's house for more baskets, egg hunting, and eating (stuffing ourselves until we couldn't move). Nicole and I picked out this dress for Lena and those coral shoes and she had a sweet little yellow cardigan!
Grant decided to wear all the things he got for Easter (except the socks and the long sleeved shirt). Quite the fashionista!
I don't know if you can see Dylan's mouth stuffed full of all things sugary and chocolatey or not, but if you were anywhere near him at any point of the entire day, we was eating candy :-) We couldn't believe how much stuff he ate, it was making me sick to watch him. He takes after his daddy and his dad's dad for sure!
These first few pictures are at the farm the week before the maple syrup gathering.
Grant with his buddy Nibbles, he walks him on a leash like a dog.
Dylan working hard with a pitch fork.
Jack and Smokey (I think).
The boys helped clean out the spring from the winter. After we emptied the leaves we found all sorts of creatures hiding at the bottom...frogs and salamanders.
Onto Maple syrup day.
Even though it was a dreary day in the weather department, it was a great day for spending time with friends and family.
I haven't posted very much lately and I have a lot of pictures on my camera that need to be seen :-) I may have to spread them out over a couple posts so bear with me. First off we have Dulce's sugar shack and a day for the boys to help boil syrup, but mostly play on the zip line.
This is Jack's cub scout group at the pinewood derby in which Jack took the prize for the most creative car, which doesn't surprise me.
A great day hiking at a state park.
The boys thought there needed to be a more substantial cross-over this little creek so they dragged a log over and dropped it in place.
After our hike we went to a nearby dam and the boys rolled down the hills over and over again:-)
